Description A belated Birthday gift for my best friend and partner:

I totally agree with him that the people are wrong about a woman can not be a Kamen Rider o any Red Ranger (But in a different way to Shinkenger/PR-Samurai (who was a temporary leader before the end of the series)), and that's because they can't achieve something like this instead of having stereotypes such as in school uniforms (Sailor Moon), Victorian underwears (Tokyo Mew Mew) or fluffy dresses while her creepy friend videotaping her (CardCaptor Sakura) or be products of sexist jokes.

EDIT: I forgot to color the logo on Kamen Rider Drive's helmet.

Nice looking Kamen Rider, she looks impressive in her civilian and armoured forms.
I do agree that there should be females who lead teams of powered individuals who don't have to wars skimpy outfits to b taken seriously, more females should lead teams like this. That's why I have more females as lead Rangers and Red Rangers in my Power Rangers continuity on several teams.  Maybe now that Hasbro outright bought the franchise, they'll recognize the need to promote new female leads in the series once they take over. Power Rangers DESPERATELY needs a female lead after all of this time, and the excuse that female led teams don't sell as many toys is both a) probably wrong, and b) not enough of an excuse to keep the series male dominated like this. Maybe if there were more female toys in action oriented roles, more girls would buy them instead of just Barbie and princess dolls and the sales numbers would rise. Even if Toei doesn't want a female lead Sentai Team, Hasbro should just alter the footage and give us a female Red Ranger anyway, we need one even if Japan doesn't want to cooperate.

That's why it really bothers me about sexism in Japan. Hell, my best friend sent me an artical about this: daisukitoku.com/2017/04/16/fuu…

Yeah, it really should get with the times. But we, as North Americans, can't dictate the changes of another all that easily. But we can make demands of our own culture to work in equality. While Toei may be far behind standards of Equality in terms of representation of female heroes in strong, non-ultra feminine roles in Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, the same can't be said of what Hasbro does with Power Rangers. The excuse that they don't want to alter the roles from the Sentai is dumb, as changing an injustice to make it right isn't a change you should fear making.

You said it, dude. In Super Sentai, the change at least was given one time with Shinkenger thanks to Kaoru Shiba as ShinkenRed (altought it was at the final episodes of the series). But in Kamen Rider, the things got worse, due to there weren't not only a main female Rider, but also, some Female Riders died in battle, such like Yukina Sawatari (when she almost becomes Agito), Miho Kirishima/Femme (in Ryuki), Yoko Minato/Malika (in Gaim), etc. And this is the same of sexist as making a henshin sequence got failed due to lack of enough physical resistance (the true reason why Kiriko couldn't transform completely into Drive), or also making the complete bastardization of a badass female character...

So, a change maybe could be unlikely, but never impossible.

Yeah, it was nice that we got the female Red Ranger in Super Sentai, it's a shame she didn't last more time in Power Rangers Samurai, most of the time she was Red Ranger was spent focusing on her brother's duel with Dekar anyway, and her brother coming back was the key to actually defeating Xandred anyway, still limiting her actual necessity in the show, and technically make all the time she spent in isolation away from her brother technically pointless, which is kind of sad that all that effort a female put in was kind of pointless in the end.
Change might be slow in Japan, but at least people like those in the article are trying to make a difference that may take hold in eventually, even if the growth is slow.
But that doesn't excuse Power Rangers in the west from being slow. Now that Hasbro has the rights to the show, they need to push the boundaries more with Power Rangers shows and work more empowered female characters and lead up to their being a proper female lead Ranger or Red Ranger. Now you may not like it, but My Little Pony recently has been doing a good job empowering female roles, so they may be held to a similar standard on how they handle female roles in other franchises they own as well.
Another thing of note is that a good franchise can't just only have one of two strong female role models and call it done, not when they also have like 20 strong male role models. It's not enough to just not have any negative role models, you need an abundance of positive role models to be properly equal.

You are right. It's moment where we must stop also the idea of "superheroes for boys only, and dolls for girls only"!

Yeah, fair enough. They have tried to have some Super heroes for Girls, like She-Ra or DC Super Hero Girls, but they should try to make fandoms that apply to both boys and girls at the same time. While it may not be wrong to make one fandom or another that targets boys or girls specifically (The fact that girls like dolls and boys like cars and robots is genetic, it's not just cultural, so embracing those genetic urges is not wrong). But just because a fandom is targeted at boys doesn't mean it can't have strong female role models too.

Yeah. Also, there is no problem if even boys like girl-focused things (MLP: FiM or Any Disney movie with princesses).
