I am wondering what this will lead Elle to next. At least there's some nice old folks that may be able to give her some sage advice in her time of despair. I wonder though, what accent, if any Elle speaks in. (Midlands, Geordie, Welsh, West Country, etc.) Knowing nothing of her background has lead me to be reading her text (in my head) with a dialect with a basic Americanized english accent, and I know she's from the other side of the pond so it just doesn't match up.

The old man is part of the Cute Grandpa union (it comes with the hat).
The old woman has mints in her purse. (And probably sweet curlers at night).
And I hope we chat with them some more, even though they can't be terribly observant if they missed a giant ash cloud.

I AM IN HYSTERICAL EXCITEMENT! I have only read the fan fiction by midnightfaery, so I'm a little confused by the details happening in there, but still can't wait!

....question, which direction is this comic meant to be read in? Top two panels feel like they are moving from left to right, but the bottom 3 read from right to left... kinda getting lost while reading

Left to right, like a book. But read down the comic. Bubbles above other bubbles are read first.

ok, that makes sense for panels with dialoge, but the top panel shows her stopped before running if read right to left. Just thinking that the layout is rather confusing on this page

You don't necessarily 'read' the drawing from left to right. Action isn't dialogue, but I'll pay mind to that in future.

This illustrates my point about action being right to left (top right panel), but I admit I should have replaced the dividing line with a blur instead.

Oh, I under stand your point. My point (which I lost being flippant) is DC and Marvel are very exacting as to how they want their panels to flow.
Having the hubris to correct your work, in the middle panel I would move Elle's dialog bubble to the left of her; the old couple moved to the right of her and their dialog bubble to the left of them. But that is just me.
Anyways, looking forward to more.
