Personality:
Manek is an odd little soul. Had he been given the family he so desperately needed, he might have turned out alright. Instead, being forced to fend for himself has morphed a potentially talented colt into a skittish, distrusting young fawn left to believe that it was his fault for the death of his mother/twin. Having lived off of the bare minimum of milk that he could possibly have and what scraps he could scavenge after he was weaned, Manek tends to not only scarf down food but be quite territorial over it. One might describe him as somewhat 'feral', with a wild gleam in his eye any time someone that he doesn't know comes near him. He's not yet beyond saving, as he still craves the love and attention of another living being, but due to his nervous nature it will take some time and effort to gain enough of his trust to give him that type of relationship. Despite being quite clever, he seems to be developmentally behind other fawns his age.

Finally, Manek has found Gaelach and has by extension found the reason why he was put on this earth. He still doesn't quite understand why the owl god put him through the trauma of losing his sibling, his mother, and his grandmother nor why he wasn't given a father that loved and took care of him but he has come to believe that there is a greater reason behind it all. He is still rather odd and antisocial, preferring to keep his interactions with others limited and in relation only to events revolving around Gaelach. Despite his acceptance of the herd, the feral gleam still glimmers in his eye and he remains nervous and fidgety; however, he no longer shies away from other Oakferns. He now proudly boasts red paint upon his coat that he dotingly reapplies each morning and tends to get extra skittish around those who do not wear paint! While he may still be a bit on edge, his newfound determination and ambitions to become a great Oakfern shaman have given him the first bit of self-confidence he has ever had!

Appearance:
If Manek had proper nutrition, he would be an attractive young colt. As it is, he is a scrawny little thing with matted fur, dirty hooves, and an overall appearance of being sickly. He used to wear a bit of paint upon his brow but, since the glow attracts attention of other Oakferns, he has ditched the habit entirely. Manek's eyes are sunken in and seem to have a wild, haunted look.

After reintegrating with the herd, Manek has learned to take better care of himself. Still scrawny and wild looking, the haunted look upon his face has not left him although his ribs don't stick out quite as much as they used to. His previously matted and mud-caked fur is now growing out nicely into a full and silky, kirin-mane. His coat now boasts simple red glowing paint to identify himself and Manek has also acquired a necklace of jaguar teeth held together by twisted vines. The young stag's only other piece of decor at the moment is his owl-bone nose piercing (to be acquired in-game at five years) which he believes helps to keep him connected more closely to Gaelach, as each and every breath he takes passes over the bone before entering his lungs!

History:
Manek's unfortunate beginning to life has done him no favors. His mother died giving birth to him and his twin sister, who also did not make it through child birth alive. Plopped unceremoniously upon his sire who wanted nothing to do with him, Manek was offered none of the comfort and support that he needed. It was only the efforts of his elderly grandmother that he was found does to nurse from. His grandmother, Taber's mother, was the only Oakfern that seemed to hold any true care for his well-being but not long after he was weaned she passed. With his father constantly in a state of drug-induced stupor, Manek was left to fend for himself. In the mornings he would wake, make sure his father was still breathing, and leave to scavenge anything edible that he could find. Oftentimes he ate things he wasn't supposed to, leaving him sick and shivering in the corners of the tunnels with no one to nurse his fevers. Only the desperate need to belong to something keeps him returning to his father's den. Time alone will tell if he will be able to know his true potential as an Oakern and become anything other than a misunderstood recluse...

Update! As of Spring, Year 768, Manek has reintegrated into the herd with aspirations to become the greatest shaman Oakfern has ever seen! He is still getting used to being a part of the herd but his newfound dedication to Gaelach has given him the push he needed to make something of himself.
