well been abscent from the whole DA thing for the past month with moving out of the flat, having no home, getting new home, uni cutting me off from the labs, sorting out a new pc and getting a new job. So all of that has kept me busy but shold be on track soon when the comp gets its new graphics card and i get fully settled in.But this was still in the back of my head and with a few days lefts to complete this for this event it got me sketching again which i needed since i did my last pic 2 months ago, so thats a long time to be not drawing.
So the "Sonic Club Free-For-All Contest" for the sonic club helped get me motivated for this pic of sonic and shadow racing about in some random factory. I love the green tint from fluroescent lights in comlexes that don't get filtered out from camera lenses, and utilized for this pic.
sorry if this pic is dark on your PC you might have to agjust the brigness to see the cell rendering as it was done a mac they tend to have brighter screens than pcs.
Again sorry for being so damn inactive online but hope to get things regular when i sort out everything out after christmas but i'll keep on sketching in between that time.

That aside, I love how both 'hogs are only vaguely aware of the other in the sense that they need to speed up to win this race. And the foreshortening on Sonic's arm is a dream. Awesomes.

It was kinda inspired from all those SA2 races I used to have with a mate where they would be neck and neck running along those vine half pipes not knowing who was going to get that first swing first for the final finish line.
Hope they return to those style of elements for the next game

Of all the different spin-off Sonic titles, I'd say the Sonic Riders series has fared the better of most of them, thanks to its focus on speed and emulating zero gravity.
Here, I'm more than impressed with the astounding vitality this particular piece of work proudly boasts. There's a lot going for this, actually. A high-stakes race to the finish for Sonic and Shadow, who appear to have no problem at all free-stylin' it out, tricks and all. Grindin' the rails with commendable endurance and exertion, you've just got to appreciate the liveliness you've brought to their surroundings. From the fluorescent lighting fixtures to the dynamism of the rival hedgehogs showin' their moves to the sparks flyin'...it just doesn't get any better than this. 
If I had to sum this up in one word, I would describe it as being "electrifying".

Sonic riders was pretty fun just sort of curious what it would of looked like in the hedgehog engine.
Always thought those two would have some pretty rad races all over the place and would make for a sweet animation :]

It looks so futuristic like the Matrix and it has this unique blur like they're going really fast! It looks like a 3D glasses pic to me. Wonder if those glasses would work here?

you can do the blur effect easliy in photoshop with the motion blur filter and playing around with the layers :]
not sure if the googles would work but who knows
