I remember watching Spirited Away for the first time when I was in 4th or 5th grade. I was so freaked out by that guy when he ate all those people and became that spider-like monster, never mind that he gets better in the end. I know it's all cos he got corrupted by the bathhouse and all that, but my little 4th grade mind wasn't thinking "corrupted by the bathhouse". I saw a terrifying spider demon from hell that was poised and ready to invade my nightmares. Looking back as an adult, I can see the innocence in No Face. Nevertheless, his monstrous form has had an impact on my imagination, and has inspired this piece that I have created, recently.

He does indeed have quite an imagination. He basically is animation's equivalent of live action's Stanley Kubrick, quite possibly one of the most important animators since Walt Disney. I really like doing dark stuff, but I always have a soft spot in my heart for Miyazaki. Who would've guessed that a man who is known for his charming and cutesy motif would influence a person such as me?
