that other Zero design is great! i don't like a lot of the later X designs, though, they get too complex.

that MMX8 stuff looks stellar, i really dig that Mega Man design. the upgrades always looked pretty bad after X2, but i meant the basic designs, too, like those Command Mission ones you linked me to were a little too over-designed for me. and some of the bosses got super complex, which is fine but i think the Mega Man stuff is strongest when it's simple. i gave up on the series after MMX5 which i completely hated, haha. maybe i'd feel differently if i revisited it now but i'm not sure i still have it, i think i might have thrown it out. i don't really play video games anymore anyway, no big loss.

Yeah MMX8 I thought had a cool design team I have the MMX art book and in X8 they really expanded the world and characters. I agree that Command Mission is over done, I never played it... I have this great ps2 game called MMX Collection and it has 1-6 on it which is pretty cool. Nothing will beat X4 for me that's my favorite one, I never finished anything after 4 but I own and played all of them. What do you think of MM Legends?

oop, missed a part. i liked MM Legends but i never beat it, i got to some boss i couldn't get past and gave up on it. it was fun though, i liked the rocket skates. i don't know why it was a Mega Man game, though, it was like they made a random adventure game and then slapped the Mega Man name on it. which is fine, i liked that it was different than the regular series (which could sure used a shake-up, let's face it) but it didn't really have the spirit of Mega Man. still a fun game, though.

i should get the MMX collection, i have the Classic MM Collection which has 1-8 and it's awesome. the first MMX is my favorite, a large part because of the music, it's got the catchiest songs out of all of them! MMX2 is also great. i liked X4 okay, how they did Zero's weapons was cool, but for me it didn't have the raw go-get-'em energy and freshness of the first couple games. and i can't remember any of the stage music in X4 to save my life, heh.

you've seen all my old Mega Man art, right?? can't remember if you ever commented on any of those. i have an unfinished Slash Man, another Roll i haven't finished, one of Mega Man himself, Proto Man, and a group shot of MM, Proto and Roll.
i never played Legends 2, is that the one with Tron Bonne? she's pretty cool.

i haven't done any MMX art, no. i love the first couple games but none of the robot villains ever really grabbed me in the same way as the classic series robot masters, i guess. i've thought about it though, my favorites are Sting Chameleon and Crystal Snail. maybe someday.
i never played Legends 2 OR the Tron Bonne game! i think my friend played Tron Bonne and said it was good. the sales thing is a tricky issue, because on one hand sometimes a company should continue to produce something that is losing them money so they can build the audience long-term, which is a risk because maybe that audience won't pan out, and sometimes a company isn't willing to take that risk or small-but-faithful-sales might simply not be enough for the company to logistically even produce further games. sometimes they gotta make a call, i guess.

I like a lot of the Mavericks from the X games, the dragoon guy from X4 was really cool and he had Ryu's moves which was a nice nod. I tend to like a lot of the ice themed Mavericks Frost Walrus was my favorite of them. What about that tiger guy with the flame claws in X 3 he was pretty cool. I love all things MM ehh... not so much on the MM Battle Network side of things but I'm okay with it being around.
I agree it is up to the company to decide what's best for them, but Capcom has been making some really bad calls lately and have nothing in terms of new IPs so they are milking the shit out of Resident Evil and Street Fighter series. There has been a decent fan out cry for MM so hopefully they get the message or that there are enough fans to make it worth while. MM is one of those series I just can't get enough of so I want MORE! I think that they have only scratched the surface of what could be done with the character in terms of story and game play.

i like the Mavericks too, in fact i'd say i like ALL of them, at least design-wise, just not nearly as much as the classic series robots or the Mavericks in the first X game. the main thing that doesn't grab me about the Mavericks is that they don't feel unified like the robot masters do, with the "Man (or Woman)" suffix. the Mavericks feel more disparate or arbitrary to me, which is fine, it's just different, but not as appealing. also sometimes the Mavericks have stupider names, like Duff McWhalen from X5. DUFF MCWHALEN?!?!?!
i always thought it was insane of Capcom not to put out a new Darkstalkers game. i agree that only the surface has been scratched with Mega Man, especially since pretty much every single game from the classic and X series is exactly the same, the formula doesn't really vary at all. i was hoping they'd really shake it up with Mega Man 9 when i heard that was coming out, but they didn't. still a great game, but ultimately more of the same. i'd like to see something with a different stage set-up and different types of structure. even something as simple as more than 8 robot masters, or make a game where the fake-out plotline is true (like Cossack in MM4 or Mr. X, etc.) and Wily doesn't turn out to be the bad guy after all. there are so many ways they could play with the formula but they don't.

I can understand your feelings on the Mavericks vs. Robot Masters, I don't think all the Mavericks were in league with each other the anyway like the Master's were. First let me say that Megaman X is a near perfect game I've played it so many times, I love it! That being said, I feel like the 8 bosses were only there because they felt they had to be, especially with all the extra enemies in the game like Vile and Bit and Byte from X2. X4 seemed like it had a whole other thing going on with Iris, Double, The General, The Colonel, and Sigma I always felt, why am I fighting these other 8 guys? Oh to power up. The Mavericks in X5 are Guns and Roses puns. Duff Mckagan was the bass player so that's where Diff Mcwhalen comes from...
OMG Darkstalkers! Yes please could they make another one! I at least understand that the property of Darkstalkers is not as popular but I know the MM games have some amount of guaranteed sales.
So disappointing Legends 3's cancellation, had some innovate ideas. The fans were asked to participate in the creation and direction of the game on this website they set up. They also had a MM MMO in the works call Megaman World, canned.
Have you seen Archie Comic's MM series? I have the first arc in singles(4 issues) and trade. You can have my singles if you want? Call it a late X-mas gift.
Heres some links to some short articles about MML3( each is a like a paragraph or less):

yeah, that's a good point, it's never really clear what the Mavericks' deal is, whether they're in league with each other or just random rogue robots, or both? i guess it doesn't need to be clear, nobody's playing these games for the compelling story, but still seems like an oversight. but in the classic series it always seemed like fighting the robots was the main thrust of the story, however simple, which i liked.
i know the robots in X5 are all Guns N Roses references, but that doesn't make the names any less stupid, it actually kind of makes them MORE stupid.
i remember seeing some of that stuff on Legends 3. probably would've been cool even though i'd likely never play it. no time!!!
i don't know, man, i think Darkstalkers is pretty damn popular from what i can see. people love those characters, they keep drawing them all this time after the fact, it doesn't seem like anyone's getting tired of Morrigan and Felicia and the other DS ladies, i feel like a new game would be money in the bank on that alone.
i'm not sure if i've seen the Archie MM series, i saw one MM graphic novel thing recently but i can't remember if it was Archie or not... is it any good?

It's time they innovate the whole game. The character is so beloved and well designed but they have perfected the game like seriously MMX is like... PERFECT! So it's time they take some risks. Obviously they aren't since, instead of taking risks with new IP's and reviving a classic FAITHFULLY followed character they are just milking their hits... I'm a little sick of Resident Evil.
Being named after Guns N Roses defiantly makes them MORE stupid.
I bought a 3DS for MML3 so now I'm like SUPER SAD FACE... might just sell it :/
I know I would LOVE a new Darkstalkers game but they'd have to build it on the same engine as Street Fighter 4. SF4 had the perfect mix of 3-D and classic side scroll fighting. Not as crazy about how Marvel vs. Capcom 3 moves and I figured they'd base it on one of those to major successes. I would honestly like a new Breath of Fire even more than Darkstalkers.. idk maybe UGH they let the best IPs DIEEEE!!! PISSED AT CAPCOM!
Megaman Archie, I think it's good especially for a book aimed at kids... and it's the best work I've ever seen from "SPAZ". It's defiantly worth the bit of time it'll take to read it and it's free just email or DM me where to send it. (It'll take me a bit of time before I get to sending it but I'll try and get it out asap.)
Do you have any of the Capcom artbooks?

i wish i could be in charge of a new Mega Man game, people wouldn't know what hit 'em!
i played Street Fighter 4 for 10 minutes one time, it was okay. not really crazy about those type of games anymore, maybe partly because i suck at them, heh. i don't really like the 3D look for the characters, they look too sterile and stiff. they don't have the life and bounce to them that the animated sprites have. i haven't played Marvel vs Capcom 3 but the footage i've seen from it looks like shit.
man, i'll totally take those MM comics off your hands, sure!! thanks, man, i really appreciate that. i'll direct message you my address. i'm excited!
i don't have any Capcom art books, no. i like most of their artwork but i'm not a huge Capcom nut or anything, i mostly just like the old Mega Man stuff. i still like some of the Street Fighter and Darkstalkers characters but i'm not an enthusiast, at least not enough to shell out the likely high prices for those artbooks!
ps: you meant "definitely" not "defiantly," right? they kind of mean totally different things!

That'd be cool "Ross Campbell presents Megaman!"
Well I really liked SF4 I'm kinda back and fourth on the graphics, I love the smooth controls and hyper combos and what not tho. MvsC3 doesn't really look that great... but idk some aspects are cool... it's the only fighting game that Angela will play with me (she really likes Felicia and X-23) tho I do force MvsC2 on her all the time waaaay better and classic sprites!
I replied to your DM so we're all good there. No problem really, I was going to try and send them out to you before Xmas but I wasn't sure you'd want them so once we started this conversation, I knew you have to at least see'em.
I understand not wanting to shell out for the Capcom art books usually you can't get away with one for under $50 bucks yikes, but I've managed to pull off some deals at cons. I love japanese art books in general, I've collected them for a while even when I was not as interested in comics (some dark times while I was in some bands...and er.... whatever I found my way back to comics, sigh of relief.).
I totally meant DEFINITELY! I read over my reply, but I tend to miss things... I'm not great with grammar and whatnot it's a long story but I'm always trying to improve my lack of skill. ( I sorta missed some key fundamentals 6-8th grade...)
