Description Only a few minutes after I took this photo, the plane went down, tragically killing pilot Dave Stock.

RiP


edit : this is an English Electric Lightning, used by the RAF during the 60's and decommissioned in 1988, if I'm not mistaken. Sir Richard Branson flew in it (with this pilot) in an attempt to break his vertical climb record.

Oh, no = sorry for not explaining. I have now added more details in my comment under the image. It was an English Electric Lightning. Phenomenal to watch her in displays. I've been very fortunate to have witnessed Lightnings fly at various air shows here in South Africa, where they are privately owned by Thunder City (see link above; very interesting).
