Wow! I LOVE this picture! I love old books, and I love how this is such a special book to you. Great composition and lighting. How did you get it so black in the background? (Sorry, I am just starting in photography and am trying to learn everything I can).

As for the black background, I'm not sure to be honest. I was using a really crappy point and shoot, on macro mode for the closeup. The lighting was dim enough that I think the background just happened like that.
