I found two amazing stockists here on DA. and . I immediately fell in love with the beautiful and somewhat eerie castles and abbeys, and the lovely time period stock. I had to merge them together and make some ghostly manipulations!This particular one was my first using this stock. I didn't want to lose any of the detail in her costume, but I wanted to make her look ghostly, of course, so I tweaked for an hour just trying to get that done. I wanted to keep this simple, without really losing any detail of the building.

I haven't used dA in YEARS, so this is super-late, but to answer your question, I simply use photoshop and adjust the transparency.
I might just have to make a tutorial on that!
