Oh, grandma this is not. His thick hair and his thick wrinkles make the wonder of your value system EVEN MORE wondrous. And the little constellation string of dots cutting from bottom left to upper right totally pushes the status of this guy beyond orthodox [ha, not the religious definition, though!].
Solid achromatic work. Much respect.

Haha, your right on, it totally isn't! Its actually a director i really admire, but i always enjoy throwing in the occasional weird statement to skew the viewers perspective of what an art piece is about, or what it should be perceived as. (Not really to make a point or anything, i just find it fun)
Thank you very much! This sort of art is something that i normally dont do, so I'm glad you like it. I'm always wondering what your thinking about my current work, you have that there edumacated opinion on stuffs that you get from the schoolin' machine. The white floaty dots were actually added last minute, but i think they add a lot to the piece, they might actually be my favorite part. Either that, or the weird abstract neck/hair/tumor/thing, that was fun to throw in there.
Thanks d00d.

Hah, definitely my first clue.
I need to get at your recent uploads -- AND DUDE, speaking of schoolin' machine, I managed to get into a class for this fall called "The Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art". GET READY FOR SOME DEEP CRAP, YO.
Those dots really pull the composition together. It's almost like the mechanical, geometric compliment to the organic strokes shaping the character. The neck-hair-tumour-thing is great! Hah, I didn't see it that way, but let's make it a combo monster. A sentient being of its owwwwwnnn.

THIS IS A SUPER LATE RESPONSE, WOOO.
No worries man! Nice, time to bust out some totally deep metaphysical stuff! BUST A DEEP ASS FLOW. (Which sounds completely unlike what i mean it to sound like, but whatever.)
That's what i thought, honestly. After i threw those dots down i felt that it was largely complete, although obviously i could have just kept polishing that thing for alot longer if i felt like it, but larger artistic endeavors call, yanno? THE COMBO MONSTER, IT BECKONS. With its hairy neck tumors lovingly stroking the earth on which it walks.

Haha, DEEP WHAT?! You youngsters always comin' up with these slangenmumbojumbos.
Ah, totally get what you mean there. The Zitboy comic is looking slick, if I do be so bold to say so! It's so neat to see where your focal points come from -- like, the process build is neat. Work like this piece is finished to a degree and contains just enough rawness to sell it. I likes it.
And I'm beyond creeped out at that combo monster bit. Tumors that lovingly stroke as he walks JUST PLAIN NO.

I dunno. SO GANGSTUH.
Ah, thank you very much. And cool, thank again, although admittedly i find it a bit funny that, in a sense, that middle sub-paragraph could also be worded as someone just doing the absolute bare minimum on an art piece. It sounds much more artsy and dedicated to the craft to word it in the way you did, like some artistic dogma i live by, rather than just the issue of time constraints and too many projects. regardless, thanks! I don't want to reject thecompliment or anything, and i don't disagree with you, i just thought it was fun to think about the intricacies of wording in this setting.
Hahaha, HE COMES.

Phenylketonurics In reply to sugarpolyp [2010-09-10 02:44:58 +0000 UTC]
Hahaha, that's the job of art critics! Make it wordy, poetic, and massively deep. Granted, I'm not an art critic, I like to pretend every now again. In my painting class critiques, our professor would tell us to use a critique that explained something the artist might not have intended to our advantage, even if it meant lying, ha. Yeah, ethics and personal integrity need not apply in those cases.

Well, in theory. Personally, i dig your dissections more, they seem more constructive. The idea of being EMPLOYED as an art critic i always found a bit ludicrous, but that's just me. I dig it that you know how to word your opinions properly and beautifully, but you also create artwork. I have much more respect for one who can create AND critique, rather than just create or just critique. And haha, nice! Who needs integrity in art?
