Description Warning: Cave Story Spoilers?

You know, I don't think this scene would have impacted me as much if I hadn't royally screwed it up so bad on my first try. Because man is it a heart-breaker if you don't do it right. Gonna keep restarting until I can save you, Curly! ;_;

Aaanywho, this is a spontaneous fanart for the amazing adorable-yet-surprisingly-deep-and-depressing-at-times game of Cave Story. The actual game is a pixelated (if your not playing the 3DS version) sidescroller that gives me lots of classic gaming nostalgia, even though it was made in 2003. Also the entire thing (music, writing, art, EVERYTHING) was made by ONE DUDE. It's pretty fantastic and I highly recommend it.

Warning for the same spoilers.

"There is no reply." I searched for some way to save her, not aware that the chance had been missed. Maybe those consoles could drain the water -- "ERROR." So I reluctantly moved on, swearing that I would at least avenge Curly, along with King and all the other victims of the doctor's madness. This had gone too far.

Yeah... At my first playthrough I was just standing near her body and not believing I wasn't able to save her. Searched the room, nothing. Gone to internet - maybe I'm missing something? Right, I picked up that stupid Booster 0.8 and by that killed both Professor and Curly. That's kinda ridiculous. So I've started playing all over again from the start just to save Curly. It was worth it. Still have to finish the game, though.

Have not played Cave Story but I'm reminded of a certain level in Psychonauts.....
Also your description reminds me of another scene in FFVI (although the "correct" solution was more of an easter egg, and things were supposed to end badly) ;;

Pretty nice job on the limp pose for Curly(?) I even like how some of her hair is pressed in by his forearm. ;3 My only thought is the hair that's flowing loose should REALLY flow loose. More loose strands and general waviness~

(of course I approve of the robot "corpses" XD littering the scene; really adds a sense of dread to the place)

Wow, one person eh?? I wanna be that dude. Someday. Minus the programming; that's too much headache for me. XD;;

In the game it's described that she's given you her "air tank", but with the graphics I suppose the easiest way to show that was to put the character in a bubble. Also I need to draw a serious fanart for Psychonauts one of these days. :I

Wait is this the thing with Shadow? Cuz I screwed that one up the first time too.

Iiii don't know how to draw wet hair. That was my attempt. Only I didn't even bother trying to make the clothes look wet so yeah.

Based entirely on this area. [link] Thank you though! The cutesy decapitated head is sort of a weird twist.

I should really look up how long it took him to make it.

Haha, "serious fanart" for Psychonauts can be as silly as you want of course. ;D

That too, but especially Cid & Celes on the island. ;;

Ohh, okay. I assumed they stayed dry, so the hair could've been more flow-y in my kooky little mind.

Whoa, not what I was expecting! Thought it was like a JRPG, not a shooter.

Ever watched Indie Game ? There's a nice window into the world of individually-crafted games and how much it takes to get made. And I mean how much of everything; time, money, energy, livelihood, sleep & sanity. :0

Oh right! I remember reading about that somewhere. Something about catching the right fish. Yeah, that was pretty depressing too, wasn't it? >_>

And since we're on the topic of sad pixelized subplots, Lucca's 'backstory' comes to mind.

I want to play Chrono Trigger again. ono

It's more of an action-adventure sidescroller type deal. Although it does have some item-collecting bits and a rather unique leveling system. It's available on about four different platforms (I'm playing the WiiWare one) and I really do recommend it. c:

I think they've been pushing that one on me on Netflix. ._.

Yep. You really have to play it through blindly through to realize the scope of the moment.

*sigh* now CT is the one I haven't ever finished.

Your comments on Cave Story really reminded me of what that movie's all about. (and, thankfully, it has a happy ending)
