It's actually amazing and thought-provoking to me how they are basically giving treatment to a PTSD victim. Like, yes, we saw this process in Gale of Darkness, but very rarely did we ever see the actual emotional and psychological symptoms of the Shadow condition, much less the stress and trust issues that the Pokémon goes through during purification.
