Description I wanted to post this for Christmas. Sadly, I could not upload it on time but since the holidays are not over yet, the image should be still relevant. eh? Winter is long, many things can happen during the course of the Season... like some interesting encounters you can make in the woods. Here are two friends that are reflecting on the meaning of the Winter solstice.
Happy New Year to All of You!

The composition and the deer were inspired by an old vintage card.

Hey, thank you Kay-March!
Lol yes, but this is Canadian snow, you better put your snowshoes on!

Kay-March In reply to SuliannH [2014-12-31 23:16:55 +0000 UTC]

Hehe!! You're very welcome.
I wouldn't mind to try a bit of snow, never snows where I'll live - one has to travel almost half the country further north to appreciate it, I bet that you are tired of it by now (at least the inconvenients it brings along!)

SuliannH In reply to Kay-March [2015-01-01 04:49:29 +0000 UTC]

Yes, snow is beautiful but after 5 to 7 months of it you start to be tired of it.
Where my relatives live, Canada, we had so much snow that we have to wake up 2 times in the middle of the night in to shovel
the parking space only to be able to get the car out of it  to go working in the morning. In fact,  we had snow from October to May .
Weather did not change much though the years. The Summer is short there. Here in the US, it is a piece of cake,
nothing compares with Canada. The weather is very mild here.

I live in a sort of micro-clima, a bit different from the rest of the province. It's a peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic and protected by sierras. The only time old people remembered it snowed one winter in almost 100 years... folks tought the world was ending (I'm joking Hehe!!) But it was a shock!
I have friends living in Canada as well, last time it snowed there was a real blizzard and after it all frosted... things looked like ice statues - they showed me a picture from the lighthouse covered by a frozen wave... completely surreal!!

SuliannH In reply to Kay-March [2015-01-01 22:27:54 +0000 UTC]

It snowed only 100 years ago? Wild!
So you will never need snowshoes where you live
I agree about Canada, It is crazy cold in the Winter.
One year we had snow that went up to the second floor of the house. When we were in the living room or the kitchen,
We had to open the lights all day because the snow covered all the windows of the first floor.
I believe what you said  about  the frozen wave. My bother-in-law lost two friends and co-workers in a blizzard
that stroke the Baffin Island area. The wind blew for several days, they never found them after.
They could had be swept many kilometers away and buried under meters of snow; it was impossible to prospect the whole area for it is too vast.

Kay-March In reply to SuliannH [2015-01-02 23:57:29 +0000 UTC]

More or less. It was on of those freaky weathers that happens perhaps once in a life time. Only saw old pictures in a newspaper about it.
People on the top north of the country (here) have problems with snow tempests, some winters are harsh than others, though they aren't so dangerous as the blizzards, I think they are a little demonstration of what people mention as the Tempests of the Century - when they happen its Earth reminding us how frail we really are, like other weather catastrophes.
It's different in the vast territories like Canada, too close to the North Pole and facing the influence. Even when people are accostumed it's always very dangerous.
We are lucky so far.

SuliannH In reply to Kay-March [2015-01-06 05:55:36 +0000 UTC]

Oh I know what you mean about those unusual weather and temperatures.
We see more and more of those phenomenas since the last decade.
Right, we're not ruling much as far as weather is concerned.
Yes, I could write short stories about all cold and storm misadventures I went through.
I agree, you are!

Kay-March In reply to SuliannH [2015-01-06 16:33:12 +0000 UTC]

I'll bet you have some interesting stories to tell about your (mis)adventures in good or bad weather.
Would love to read if you ever write them!
