yes, you're right it makes any artwork even more interesting....I do not use symbols all the time in my artworks but I try to have some geometry in my composition or organize things in a dynamic order. Sorry about this, I should have wrote "a hand with a finger pointed at the sky" in my previous reply to you.

It is very beautiful to read its epic answer. One notices in your words how intensively and philosophically you reflect the subject of death. Out of your words, the positive aspect of the imperishable soul speaks. So how on your picture the hand is an invitation for the soul,to strive after the higher and better. So the secret of the world of death is freed of its frightening. It is the only what the person never will know. It has me very touched this parallel in our views to see.
