Been browsing through your gallery and came across this wonderful capture. Love how you have just focused on the tree itself and the background just sits behind without becoming a distraction in the composition. It is now become a favourite and I think it is one of your best.

Thanks.. It was a goodie.. the fog basically blurred the background into nothing and a bit of sunlight came thru to light the foreground.. I had to stop the car and take the shot while the light lasted. I think I'll feature it on my front page for a while. thanks!

Yeah that's the beauty about photography, sometimes thinks just click into place... and you can never really reproduce the exact same image twice!

I've always been captivated by gnarled old trees like this. I love the atmosphere in this.

Theres so many trees like this in Oz you must have trouble getting from A to B. I'm in the Red Centre for June.. fotographer paradise!

Yes, and especially around where I live! Well thankfully I don't drive, so I can stare out of car window to my heart's content and never have to worry about being too distracted. Trouble is that mostly I see them from a highway at top speed and you cannot stop and take a photograph!!!

Aaah, you see often you can't stop - there is nowhere to pull over! Usually this happens just when I have seen the perfect tree.

Your best photograph yet IMHO.

The lighting is perfect and the myst/fog in the background works really well with this image! Lovely.

now this is being really picky, but especially after comparing it with "moonshadow", I find that the moon one is in balance, while this one is lacking the moon to balance it out. The clouds are the ones that should have been in charge of this one, but the interesting ones are on the dark ones, on the same side of the tree. I'd thus probably have gone in such a way that the tree would have a little more of a white-cloud background, making the composition sort of like a storm has just passed and left the tree.. as it is now. (or something like that)

dang nabbit, this is what I don't like about living in Malta... the place is so small it's never on most tourmaps. And when someone like Sting comes along, he makes his date smack in the middle of my final exams, meaning I can't go :/
