Not only that, but they eat meat as well sometimes, so you'd have to wonder... just which Pokemon is supplying all the meat for their stews and random buffets? I remember in one of the games, they mention that Miltank were sometimes used for meat.

I also remember early episodes suggesting Pidgey and Spearow eating Caterpie... one even took a Caterpie, I believe.
Another episode I remember is a Arbok getting its fangs stuck in something it was trying to eat.
Could you imagine raising a Rattata to a Raticate and having it with you all your life only to have a trainer let their Arbok eat it? XD

If I remember right (which I might not be), that was actually a pastry item referencing to anko. I believe they've shown attempts to eating Magikarp, though Magikarp have always been shown to have scales too tough for teeth to bite through (one case when Meowth or James tried to eat one).
However, every time they imagine feasts, there's always a cut up Magikarp similar to steaked whole catfish.

OMG YEAH i've ALWAYS wondered that! and..he promised to see Butterfree again..and he set his Pidgeot go! what a fool. XD it's like he completely forgot about them all after the first season!

Well, most butterflies don't live past six months to a year, so... I wonder if Butterfree is dead by now. XD
I understand the theme of the show. It's supposed to be about growth (hence why most of his Pokemon don't evolve and those that do are usually placed aside or let go). But still, he completely forgets them. I wonder how many times he's been to Kanto, yet never once got his Pidgeot back.
What about some of the more memorable characters like AJ (the sandshrew kid) or that samurai kid with the metapod who, if I'm not mistaken, was the first trainer he met and battled with. You'd think they'd show up at SOME point with a stronger team.

Yeah, dying is like... forbidden in this world or something. I'd like to see a sad episode every once in a while of a charmander who's tail goes out and dies... then possibly become a Ghastly.

I always wondered about AJ! He was a serious trainer who was on his way to becoming an awesome trainer! Shouldn't Ash have heard about him or something? I kind of always wondered about what happened to Richie...O_O the better/cooler/everything-Ash-isn't lookalike XD

Lol! Yeah, I mean, we tend to see these third-rate characters for the Pokemon contest episodes, but we still haven't seen AJ who raised his Sandshrew to resist water-type attacks. I've always wondered what team he'd wind up having (I was expecting to see him in the Elite tournament episodes).
Richie, I could do without him, but yeah, we haven't a whole lot of him outside the pokemon chronicle episodes.
