I love how it all seems to flow, even the rough texture of the rocks with the cloudy sky.

The contrast is superb!

thanks a lot you got the right feel, what I saw in this... the rock and the sky are like something "organic".

Thanks you're right, I kept this one "plain", sort of classic.

Wonderful. It looks great in b/w. Great contrast between the dark rocks and sky and the white clouds

this is wonderful, luca!
i like the soft, unresolved character of the ground, and that dark expanse of sky up right, enclosing the mineral folds, that somehow look "warm", like some petrified wood.

sundreaming In reply to ashveenp [2006-12-08 18:56:58 +0000 UTC]

thanks a lot ashveen. as a fact I tried to preserve the warm tone and substance of the stones (they're red, yellow) even in monochrome... the shapes of the petrified dunes in the valley of fire are something extraordinary, they look very "organic" like they're alive.

Hmm, I was born in Nevada, never heard of the Valley of Fire though...where's it at? The first person was absolutly right, the sky and rocks go perfectly together.

as a fact it's not as renowned as other places... even if just about 50 miles from las vegas. extraordinary nature location, I think the valley of fire alone would deserve a trip to the US -it would be great to be there on different times of the day, different sky, weather condition etc.

f0rTyLeGz In reply to f0rTyLeGz [2006-12-08 19:10:49 +0000 UTC]

That's cool... I could kinda tell because last spring I drove across the country... I saw so much but often it was cold, or I just didnt want to stop, so I started blasting away from the car. Then at night Id study what I had done. I only got a couple of nice ones, and surely the trick was to take many exposures [link]
