An alien I've juggled around in design for a long, long while. I think I've fixed this guy one too many times. Some info on them is below. And because they are referenced in the overview, the Ziratar can be found here .

Arrzark (Ziratar given name meaning Voiceless)
Planet: Keeal (Ziratar given name)
Life Span: 120-135 years
Typical Height: 5'5"-6'8"

Keeal is an odd planet that is thought to once be completely under water. The air is always humid and very damp. Typically cool and lightly windy, Keeal has rare heatwaves and no winters. Clouds cover the sun most days there. Rain is a common occurance, though it is usually only small showers. Many lakes and rivers are all over the large, single continent of Keeal's crust. Only a single ocean lies towards the planet's equator, but it is not large enough to separate the land. Plants have adapted to dark, creating bioluminenscent purple and blue plants. Rainforests are common on Keeal, partnered with lush plains and few mountains that appear to be reef-like constructs. Thousands of species of tiny creatures and organisms make their home in the air of Keeal (of which the Arrzark eat). Many kinds of fauna also inhabit the planet, most of which are evolved for flight or gliding.

Arrzark language is basically impossible to understand without a translator. They use electrical pulses produced from organs in their cheeks along with infrasound and odd clicks. Luckily, with the help of Ziratar technology, their language has been almost entirely translated. Though, even with said technology, it is very difficult for most races to pronounce Arrzark names. Because of this, Arrzark take on a Ziratar given name. Arrzark also use electrical imprinting technology for their written language. To gain sustenance, Arrzark filter feed through the gill-like slits on their cheeks constantly.

Despite lacking most universal facial expressions, Arrzark are sensitive and very emotional beings. They have special organs in their palms and finger tips that can detect electrical pulses, heart rate/blood pressure. The slits in their cheeks house their language producing electrical organ. These slits also function as ears and mouths, while also acting as an electricity absorber and sound producer. Arrzark will always have some sort of glove to cover their hands. This is for sanitary reasons, for their fingertips are extremely sensitive and susceptible to infection, and for cultural reasons. Off-planet, Arrzark must wear a breather mask because their lungs have a difficult time breathing air that lacks an appropriate amount of moisture for their kind. This mask also typically has a translator and food supply.

Arrzark never touch one another unless they are mates or family. Bare skin touching is considered a very intimate act between two Arrzark. Hands are always kept folded behind their back when speaking with eye contact always kept. Averting eyes from the one spoken to is considered disrespectful. Having life-long mating habits, Arrzark pairs rarely leave each other's side. Being away from one's mate causes them nearly unbearable depression, to the point of physical pain. Because of this, Arrzark tend to find mates in similar social statuses. (Example: Engineers will pair with other engineers, soldiers pair with other soldiers). When with their mate, Arrzark are more efficient and even proven to be smarter.
