Sunkit's parents were not in love much like most couples during Embertide's rule and he noticed quickly how abusive his father was towards his mother. This had upset Sunkit very much to the point that he would try to defend his mother if his father started yelling. The tom found this annoying, but wouldn't lash out at his son. He would be a warrior someday after all and Basaltclan needed all the warriors it could get.

Apprentice
As an apprentice, Sunfin found it very hard to kill his first prey or to go all out while training. His mentor happened to be an older tom, almost the age to become an elder, so he wasn't too tough on the young apprentice. Sunfin's father however was very dissatisfied with his son's progress and trained with him whenever he could. When Sunfin trained with his father he would always come back with scrapes and bruises from battling or upsetting his father somehow. One day Sunfin's mother and father left the camp and the father returned without his mate. There were whispers that the tom murdered his mate, but he claimed that she fought first in disobedience and when he defended himself she was killed in the fight. Sunfin morned his mother's death and shut down emotionally to the point that Embertide's delayed his warrior ceremony due to him not training enough to impress him.

Warrior
When Sunflower received his warrior name most other toms thought it was a weak and feminine name, but Sunflower liked it. Sunflower avoided choosing a mate for as long as he could, often making Embertide extremely angry at him. Finally Embertide had enough and forced the tom to take a mate during a clan meeting. Without anyway of saying no, Sunflower chose a small female named Vanillaswirl. At first Vanillaswirl wanted nothing to do with Sunflower but after seeing how considerate he was being by not forcing her to have his kits or even hang out with him she became more accepting of him. The two actually started bonding and she willingly had his kits after seeing the pressure their leader was putting on him to have some kits for the clan. The pregnancy was very hard on the small cat. When it was time for the kits to arrive, all were still born. This was very hard for the couple to handle and Sunflower refused to try again for the longest time despite Embertide's orders.
Sunflower and Vanillaswirl survived the big flood of the island, his mentor passed away during it.
Finally, Embertide's temper becoming hotter due to his mate escaping, the leader threatened to kill Sunflower's mate if she didn't become pregnant soon. Of course Sunflower told Vanillaswirl this and the couple tried for kits again. She became pregnant, but died trying to give birth this time and all the kits were still born. Sunflower was devastated, refusing to take another mate and hardly doing his warrior duties.
Sunflower decided to help free some of the she-cats secretly during the Waveclan attack. He was actually very relieved when Embertide died shortly after the battle, even though he felt terrible for feeling that way.
During Scartide's rule Sunflower really became a better warrior without so much pressure to have a mate and kits. Sunflower was much happier with his new leader.
Sunflower survived the Island sinking, his father died during this by a monster attack.
After living on the new island a while, Sunflower started feeling comfortable again. He worked hard as a warrior and protected his clan from the strange tribe cats as best as he could.
One night Two legged monsters came and stole away many of the cats from their camp and put them into strange containers. They then took the containers to a huge floating monster and left the island. Days past with no incidents, but then a storm shook the floating monster and freed a few cats that worked together to save as many cats as they could before the ship sank. The cats woke up on the beach and had to decide where the new territories would be.
Sunflower was honestly very surprised when Bonestar asked him to be his deputy, but accepted the role and does his best to take care of the clan.
