This little beauty of a weapon began life as a simple Alchemy sketch, which I then fleshed out in Photoshop.Designed as an alien lightning gun, I tried to make a fusion between tech/organic, been done plenty of times before yeah, but I really dont care.

go big? Atm its just a design, I'm reworking it for my porfolio, gunna get as much shine out of it as possible

oh my ... are you sure thats a good idea. i mean i don't know -- its been beat into my head that the only way to be eventually successful is to have a college degree. But its your call -- hope it works out cause i feel like dying inside this place. its like it never ends =_='

CryptCrawler and Marko D and Adonihs and god knows how many other artists have made it without ever once setting foot inside a college... I know what you mean though, I was forced to resit my first year even though it made me want to kill myself, simply because Dad had it drilled into my skull that I need a degree. I now know however, that it would be much better for me to just do what I love and push on through. I'm actually really beginning to believe I can make it too, since actually putting my mind to it, I've been creating some real quality work, most of which I'll be posting on here once its done. Also, I'm doing some character concepts for a friend of mine who is writing a novel, so I plan to do about 5 concepts for him and those will go in my portfolio. Idk, I just feel like this is right for me and its the first thing in 2 years I've actually put myself to so hopefully it'll work out alright

as for me...the only thing that'll make me worthy is a college degree. but you can be the underdog who rises against all looll that sounded so cheesy >.<

i really like the grip. the globes add a lot ti the design
the front looks a bit boring tho. the edgy shapes make it look too "human" in this case. maybe some weirder shapes would strengthen the believability. its an alien weapon after all

Thanks for the crit man! I gotta admit though, the grip was much more of an afterthought/accident than an actual design decision haha. It was born out of a frustration and loss of what to do with it so i scribbled and doodled until i came up with something i could run with haha. After I realised it was organic, i tried to make the edges created by the alchemy sketch look like a kind of armour casing around the organic parts. I didnt think of making them any weird shapes lol just ran with the alchemy.

ah yeah i completely understand. just do more of these! you will see how you will improve greatly. you will want to get better and more concrete in deisgning such things. i used alchemy for my hammer as well btw! its a great base but i changed many things on the go. the design has to have a homogeneous feel. therefore you should make bigger changes in the beginning before you start to shade it and add little details.
