Description
This is Angela Rae, or ARae. She's one of the Scrambled Leggs, and asked me to do a couple of glamour photos after our last group shot. Anyway, I thought this one turned out pretty nicely.I'm beginning to enjoy really simple light. This is just a single softbox at her eye level. Desaturation is done in Photoshop with a channel mixer layer.

her eyes and lips are so crisp and intense in focus, which adds such a smooth contrast to the soft feeling that youve captured for the rest of her torso. very nice work. but the material under her head looks like snakes and its a bit distracting.

Stunning image - it's all in the eyes (and your undoubted ability to light a scene convincingly).
Hmm... Er... Whilst it's getting increasingly hard for my to continue my 'That said,' line of commenting, the small patch of leather-ette-ish-eqsue material in the shot feels a bit out of place. Yes, this is an epically minor 'issue'.

Contrast is wicked here bud! My only issue is with the textural stuffs below her head ... erm, is that leather? Seems to pull MY eyes away from hers. So, maybe I'd suggest burning the highlights in on that ... so it's not competing so much for attention.

plus I really love this soft lightning you've used in here - sometimes the simple things are the best to chose.

Very sexy, and yet tasteful. The open mouth surely changes the mood, a little taunting. Her eyes are probably the most stunning aspect of her body. The fabric she is lying on really gives her form some weight. Possibly not enough contrast with the shadows (though I'm a sucker for hard light and strong shadows). Overall, extremely well-done!

I agree with ~kristoff about the exposure--you've managed to get just enough shadow to show the line of her chin.
The high exposure gives me a feeling that she's youthful, and that probably would have been lost if there was more tone to her skin.

When I look at this I immediately look at her eyes, that's good, very good! Then I started thinking but this goes against all the rules of exposure since you have the real high key blown out whites but I think it looks great

yup. i always start with a perfect exposure and then i will play around with it to get certain special effects. i'll usually throw out any that are over or underexposed straight out of the camera. anyway, i've always believed you gotta know the rules before you break 'em!

my main lights are a pair of alienbees b800 studio flashes. they're very versatile. i usually use softboxes on these to diffuse the light, but i also have some umbrellas and grids for controlling the spread and color of light. thanks for the comment!

Nice, you get good results, I'm looking at getting a B400 and an octobox then eventually get another B400 and umbrellas as a hairlight/fill light/color gel light, then if I can a B800 but that's down the road...

its all in the eyes and her mouth, which is slightly open. This is completely different than if it was shut.
I cant really say anything without mentioning the light work on it, which is awesome, like your works. Not only that, but you just keep getting better and better
suggestion for lightning on a piece:
recently i got the idea of dual color light. for example:
blue light coming from the top left, and red light coming from lower right. Or any combination using these 2 colors (with a black background) I recently tried it out with a few LEDs and it looks insane!
someone with your equipment and access to............models (bastard!) could definetely pull something off.

so beautiful, it's breathtaking.
Perfect light... or shadow rather. I think it's the shadow that's most important here, giving depth and adding that cool dramatic effect to the portrait.
The photograph has a story, something's definitely happening here, and what it is only dependson hte imagination of the viewer.
