The Gem of the Ocean herself, Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli has awakened from the depths of the Ocean in the Summer of 1985, now she's here to rake havoc and have a good time.

Here's something I've been working on for a long time, started this just days after getting my drawing tablet for the first time actually, the earliest file date I can find on this is August 8, 2019, basically this sat either due to me drawing it (as this was quite a challenge as I haven't attempted such a pose with this type of realistic anatomy before) or being unsure what to design for the background.
I actually attempted a beach background but decided not to go with that, what actually inspired me were Famicom game commercials, the shapes and lines they used there inspired me to come up with this and of course that Vice City like font.

Remember, if you're an artist / designer and ran out of ideas, check an old Japanese game commercial! You can always count on them for inspiration!

So the idea for this came basically when I was just getting into the whole synthwave aesthetics thing (2019) and I sketched a pin-up of Lapis in my sketchbook, something a bit less flashy and a bit more simple with her laying down with her hands behind her head, wearing a white shirt, looking unimpressed but also somewhat mysterious, basically going for a pin-up poster from the 80s vibe, but I didn't think it was enough for this idea, I felt I need to do this on bigger paper and coat it in aesthetics and that's basically where the art evolved into this, starting with the pose. I'm happy to finally turn my desire to make an aesthetic pin-up of Lapis to reality

I've lost interest for Steven Universe a long time ago but certain characters from it like Pearl, Amethyst, Lapis, Peridot and so on will always stay in my heart, wheter it's due to their personality, humor, waifu appeal or sex appeal, as with the case here lol
