Description “Snow would have to do what snow does best. Snow would have to fall.”

Based on the movie Mirror Mirror with Lily Collins as Snow White I recreated her wedding dress which I have been dreaming about making and wearing ever since I saw it in theaters. I have literally spent two years gearing up to make this.

The dress is a modified version of the Simplicity pattern 1728. . The pattern instructions are literally full of my notes and comments as I worked out how to make the costume movie accurate.
The bodice was the largest time consumer. The honeycomb smocking took weeks to finish and that was after having to learn how to smock in order to make this dress as accurate as possible.

The pattern doesn’t have the split skirt so I simply cut out two skirts with one being shorter. The flower trim on the top layer of the skirt is all handpainted.  The dress is made out of satin; the shear amount of fabric needed was insane. I had to get a large 6 hoop skirt in order for the skirt to hold its shape.

I decided to skip the wig and just dyed my hair black and since I couldn’t find anything close to a movie accurate tiara I picked one that was affordable. Unsurprisingly their aren’t allot of replicas of a tiara that has over 77 carats and was worn by a real princess before appearing in the movie.

Overall it is definitely the largest project I’ve ever tackled and I can’t begin to describe how much fun it is to wear. Thanks for looking!
