Frack me.  How on Earth do you go about placing the detail?  Is this something that 3ds max is good at doing?  I am working on a ship in Rhino 3D and am tempted, right now, to get a trial version.. I am so in love with the detail work you are doing, THUMBS UP!

I really like the lights and small details it really helps to put the size in perspective and give a grand scale. Nice flowing lines in this design
