I kinda just drew this on a whim. Then that whim became an unstoppable force that absolutely demolished the previously immovable object that was my laziness.
I know a lot of people have their theories on who the No. 1 hero Blast is, and while most of his design was revealed in the webcomic, I've yet to see any art of him. Which I think is really unfortunate because he seems really cool from the grand total of three panels we've seen of him.
I wanted to draw him fighting Saitama because I have my own theory about what Blast is. From the panel close up of his obscured face I can see a faint circular shadow around his eyes. They seem to have an oval shape like Saitama. That and some of the plain facial features like straight eyebrows and small mouth, along with a personality very much close to that of Saitama and a few design elements shared between the two, I think that Blast was also someone who eventually broke his "limiter".
But unlike Saitama(who I'm sure will fight someone on his level sooner or later whether it be Blast or another character), Blast never got the challenge he craved for. At the very beginning of the series Saitama said he felt like he was losing what made him human, and I think that Blast actually DID. He forgot what it was like to be a human who faced mortality and truly treats his hobby being a hero as just that. And as a result puts several people's lives at risk because he's just so sure of his ability to beat anyone who would face him.
Anyways that's my theory.
As for the actual drawing, I kinda had to adapt Blast to a more detailed style. I don't really want to color this until we get some colored images of him, but if it takes too long then I'll be fine just coming up with something on my own. With a name like "Blast" I figure that his color scheme would probably be predominantly red and orange. Or something like that. And you probably can't tell but I drew a fire around Blast's fist. Just thought it'd be appropriate.
I messed up on the leg muscles, and probably a lot of the proportions. I also think that the inking lines are kinda messy and don't have much weight. I've been trying to fix that but I've hit something of a wall. So I guess I'll just have to try harder! But aside from that any other criticisms are welcome!
