I keep seeing these really cool Pokemon variants everywhere on Tumblr so I wanted to give it a shot! I’ll probably make more once I trim down my commissions list
The “Dagger” houndoom was originally bred for war. The sword-like ribs and horns of the Dagger houndoom can be sharpened by trainers to be as effective as real blades. The subspecies earns its name for the shape of its tail, which Daggers have become very efficient at using during battle over years of selective breeding.
Dagger houndooms are also notably larger than most houndooms, featuring a broad snout that comes with a latching bite. Once a Dagger has grasped its prey, it will refuse to let go, allowing enemies to negotiate their way around several sharp blades.
In modern times, Dagger houndooms have been pushed away from the fighting scene, sometimes banned from battle competitions. Despite an overwhelming desire to please their trainers, making extremely loyal companions and effective guard Pokemon for any household, they are regarded as a dangerous and troublesome breed by some regions. This stereotype comes from both their previous involvement in war, as well as a more recent involvement in gang activity. Dagger houndooms have been a notorious favorite of Team Magma and other criminal organizations.
