Description Okay, so this here is basically to show the difference between lines in Easy Paint Tool SAI, and to say that the marker tool is my favorite tool for lining.

Alright, so going backwards we have the pen tool.
The pen tool is very sharp and crisp and excellent for outlining-- but it takes some extreme patience and needs to be neatly done or it looks sloppy. Not my first choice.

Second is the air brush tool-- on 100% density and small diameter or this won't work well. It gives you a solid line, but the line is much softer than pen tool. I also like to do these lines in dark brown-- another softer tone deal. This is my second favorite tool.

And then there is marker tool. Marker tool is an astounding tool, I think. You can't press down hard on it or else it loses its affect, but the marker tool is partially transparent and makes your colours POP. For people like me with messy lines, the marker tool detracts the eye from the slop. The marker tool makes your colours more important than the lines and sometimes even makes it look like you don't have lines at all. My first choice.

Of course you may use different brushes depending on what you are doing-- like you make want the harder lines for thick-lined cartoony things-- but it's always fun to experiment, and I definitely recommend playing with the marker tool if you have never given it a shot.

Have you tried lining with pencil?
I never use pen tool, only the pencil to line.

I don't have pencil... P:l
I used a free download-- I suspect I am missing some tools here and there.

I used a free one, too. xD Have you tried right clicking on an empty square to select tools?

Also pencil won't show when you select a lining layer, only if you select a REGULAR layer.

: O -- the right clicking worked. xD
I'll have to experiment some more now! CB

And I never use lining layers.

Haha. 8D -helpful-
I find it far better for lining than the actual pen tool. I despise the pen tool.

xD

Well I just went and tried out the pencil tool-- I agree, it's far better than ink, but I still favor air brush and marker over it. x3

I like my lines crisp and stand outy. xD So I prefer pencil.
But I like how you line, too, though could never do it.
