always wanted to do one these wet hair-shots... i learned a lesson, it's not easy, especially without a spray bottle. eventually i just put a drop of water on the lower lip and focused on that and this was my last shot and my fav as well. i have this thing with mermaids, they are sirens, swim deep and then come to the surface and you cannot resist their call... sometimes i think they don't know they are drowning someone, and sometimes they know but don't care because it is what they are born to be like. i want to take plenty of shots inspired by them.you might recognize the mermaid...it's `SeaFairy

when i saw this picture a thousand different feelings rushed through me, I could almost smell the wet earth. This is summer a hot day cooled by a sudden heavy rainfall, I know that her expression isn't cheerfull but i felt a sence of peace within her. as if she is enjoying every drop of rain falling on her. oh and i love the fact that she is ginger and has freckles, adds a lot to the feel of the photo. good job

Sirens, actually, according to greek mythology, are creatures whose voices were so alluring that whenever sailors listened to it, they would do anything to get near them, perishing by crashing into the rocks the sirens sat on. If i'm not wrong the sirens then fed on their bodies... Traditionally, they have the head and breasts of a woman, and the body of an eagle or some other bird... Yeah, they were actually really awkward and funny looking, although the 'human' part of it were supposed to be beautiful i guess. Many old artists usually just drew the head of a woman on the body of a large bird... Anyway, no wonder they got turned into mermaids or whatever hahaha...
Anyway, just a little Greek mythology lesson for you.

Mine too - got a warm space in my heart for both of the ill fated Buckleys, but 'Song to the Siren' is a real classic.
Ever heard the "This Mortal Coil" version? Liz Frazer of "The Cocteau Twins" does the vocals - different, but just as haunting and gorgeous as the original . . .
