Description He had something in his mind, defenitely, but I don't think it was any good...

Yeah just a random dragon sketchie. I think I have not upload any sketches since ages.
I like how his expression turned out there.

You can give me crits on this one if you want. It's not a finished work so it is more useful in this case.

Will be moved to scraps later.

That is simply friggin awesome!!! And I'll give you the reasons as clear as I can. e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" /> As a first the posing simply rawks, its very well done. The design of this character is simply fabulous!!! I really like the way the spikes add to the character, but don't mark it as a demon/evil thing, but simply as a sign of beauty. Call me a wiseguy by trying to look so deep into it, but I like these attributes!!! Also the way you drew the face leaves plenty of facial expression options, which is simply awesome since it gives you plenty of space to use the character to your liking.

Also like the unique type of horns, since they simply ADD to the character, and don't seem to get in its way.

In a short term, awesome job!!! e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

Thanks a big bunch!
I might colour it when I have some time again, I think I will just make the head then and change a few things to make it fit to the perspective in a better way.

You're most welcome! And no need, its beautiful as it is!! But perhaps copying and then make the changes could be an option?

I like it so far. I hate giving out critic so I won't. Wouldn't know what to say anyway.

I think I will colour the head if I have time, I like that face.

Careful with the head perspective The 'erspective' of the eyes is different than the one of the horns. Of course, when we count they all are symetric. The head overally looks like from a 3/4 view, whilst the horns are also from a slight overview. "Just chooza one!" Also the wings - if they are to be symetric and aligned with the head (or the horns) they probably shouldnt be in one horizontal line, cause they seem to be above the horizon of the perspective.
That's all concerning the 3D-feeling I could find. I hope it helps - the crit looks more 'negative' as I want it to be!

Thanks much!
If I colour it and make digital outlines I will change the parts that are off concerning the persepctive (I use red lines to keep it the same on the different parts of the face, but I don't use anything like that while sketching with pencils).
But I think I will just make a portrait then, the wings are not that nice really.

Aye, I understand
Maybe it wont be a bad idea to make 'erspective lines' on the whole picture so you could model the shape well in all aspects And later you can erase them easily (or leave them so that others can see how did you 'build' the picture )
Whatever you consider is the best
Welcome!

I do notice that dA's "Critique" feature is restricted to paying members for good reason. But anyway.

The sketch is very . . . stylized, I like that. The only thing that really jumps to my eyes is the lack of partitions in his wings. No extra fingers or a thumb? That strikes me as kind of odd, in contrast to the usual style of wyvern-type dragons and flying reptiles. Also a minor pity that his lower body is off-page (I usually prefer full-body drawings), but that is of course deliberate in his case to focus on the upper body and head, so I can't complain for real about that.

Ah, I thought that only paid members can ask for one but that everybody can give one then. Hmm
I was lazy concerning the wings, I added them pretty fast. I think if I will make more out of it I will just use the head.

I thought the exact same thing.
That's how they should at the very least had it set up.

I'm not a subscriber, so I can't use DA's so called "critique feature".

The way DA only allow to submit or ask for critique based on one's subscription is a rip-off because all critique requests are really an invitation from other artists (not DA itself) to the rest of the community.

I don't need DA's permission to submit my critique if I'm invited by another artist to do so.
Case in point, why don't DA pay us for telling them what we think of their.. *ahem* latest film ad while a subscription suppose to avoid such annoyances?

Anyway,
May I note you with a critique to "Suspect" instead?

Wow, you really need to do more sketches. They are nearly as good as your colored art, though I do prefer the colored ones.

suzidragonlady In reply to Killinov [2009-05-01 09:11:16 +0000 UTC]

Thankies!
Oh I have tons of sketches laying around, I just don't have a scan of all of them or post them in a non-coloured status (nearly all my digital works start with a pencil drawing).

Killinov In reply to suzidragonlady [2009-05-04 00:08:51 +0000 UTC]

Nice, you just like to finish them more often, right? Hince a sketch would only be a spoiler if you put the finished up verson to.
