Shooting wildly here, but maybe, it represents the unvarnished, or ignored fragility of the German peoples core of that era? A disparaged, disenfranchised, and initially, a misrepresented people, turning to a functioning political party, that had successfully restored national dignity, but ultimately ended up running amok, by individuals influence of the masses, desperately clinging to a social structure. Perhaps intentionally founded, and predicated on logic, but driven, and Β propagandized by focused hatred, and contrived arrogance.

I adore this one, even outside any symbolism and taking it at face value, it's a fascinating entity; that boneless puddle-like head it must have, and the centipede all the way down its spine is just beautiful.
It carries a strong feeling of Bosch's demons and devils, but not any one in particular; it would just look right at home among them.

Classical? Hm... I think you would find some great results with the style you use if you were to try listening to Mirrorthrone. Check out So Frail, and see if it brings any inspiration.

Considering it is black, diagonal, in a white circle, and on a red background, this is definitely a Nazi swastika.
