Description
A new take on "Story Time" , for a fic cover. I've cropped it, so you can't see it properly here, but in the background is a big painting of Padmé. It appears in the Solo apartment in the graphic novel adaptation of "The Last Command", and I thought it was perfect for this picture, having Padmé kind of there in the background.Anyway. This is me trying out a simpler, less realistic style, to fit with the illustrations I've been doing. I'm happy with it; I think little Anakin is my favourite, he's so adorable.

What a sweet picture! The mood is great and I love all their expressions. Anakin is really adorable although I have to say that I like Jacen even better. And Leia is so beautiful! Ahh, good times.

Aww... Such a great moment for this family: just the five of them, cuddled on the couch--I can almost hear Harrison Ford's voice, animated and soft, as Han recites the story to his children and wife. Their eyes are all perfectly focused on the holo-pad (or whatever Han's holding here! lol!), and I agree with :iconhayleyskywalker2: that their expressions are all wonderful. I can't help noticing Jacen's hand, wrapped around his mother's arm as he snuggles into her shoulder...almost as though it's this contact he's most contented with, and not necessarily the story... It makes my heart ache, knowing how it all ends up... And with Leia leaning into Han's shoulder, it looks like that scene out of ROTJ...when they're listening to C3PO tell the Ewoks of the history of the rebellion... Just wonderful, dear, and a perfect illustration of the Solos in much happier times!

This was a lot of fun to do. Kind of cathartic, too. A little bit of family time for them.
I drew on the ROTJ scene a little when I was drawing this, actually. I couldn't actually copy it, since they were facing the wrong way, but it did help to imagine this with their kids. And I'm glad you like Jacen! I've always wanted to see his relationship with Leia explored a bit better. We get it with Jaina, but not Jacen. But anyway, thank you kindly!

Indeed--there were a few little moments in the NJO series of novels, during the Vong war, when we saw little snippets of Jacen's relationship with his mother, but not many. I guess I always imagined it was actually pretty close: he had the same sort of thoughtful approach to life Leia has, and I always figured that would pull them closer... I also found it telling that in the LOTF series, the only family member Jacen/Caedus envisioned coming to kill him was Leia...it says something about a closeness lost, I think...

Yes! Me too. I like that idea in theory, Leia and Jacen as a kind of counterbalance to the more impulsive, reckless half of the family. But canon didn't do enough with it, in my opinion... oh well!

Wow. A person who looks at this picture can be directly drawn to everyone's eyes. I love their eyes. Great little family moment. awww I love how you demostrated Han's hand (gigantic) compared to Anakin's hand (extremely small). I love Anakin's face, It looks like he is scared then you look at Jaina's face and she looks like she is about to break down and laugh.

Oh and When I say the back ground painting the first think I thought of was the Padme painting in the Solo's apartment and then I read the description and I was right.

I have read the comic for the trawn triliogy like over 9 times already. I love that series and the deulogy. I love the NJO, DN triliogy, LotF, and FotJ but everything went down hill after the thrawn duology.
I don't know if you feel the same way, but I still love the books.

Yeah, I don't like many books after the duology either. Well, Survivor's Quest is good, and I used to love the YJK series, but not so much anymore. The NJO and later stuff got too dark and depressing for me so I pretty much stopped reading after NJO. *lol*
