Description This is a little book I made for one of my best friends.

It's 105mm x 83mm x 20mm, has 10 signatures and 200 pages. It's nice and thick! (:

The inside paper was cut into size from envelopes (Envelopes are made out of the most amazing paper! <3). The book is handbound on tapes with handmade endbands, a purple bookmark ribbon and purple endpapers to match.
The cover is a blue paper printed with silver swirls, and the spine and corners are protected with blue linnen. I used the same ribbon as for the bookmark to decorate the spine.

This is the first time I made this kind of cover, and the first time I filed the cardboard for the cover so that the edges and corners are round.
I'm happy with the result! (:

Beautiful paper cover, it truly fits! This is gorgeous, svenmarie. If this book were in a fantasy series it would be a magical wishing book where you could write down your dreams and they would come true. Or perhaps a place where Scheherazade's stories were written down.

I'm going to have to try making cloth triangle corners on my book covers in the future, because these look really good.

Oooh, thank you so much! It's a gift for a friend, so let's hope the wishes she writes in it get fullfilled

The triangles aren't too difficult; you should try it.

Really nice! How did crafting your own headband work out? Love to see it detailed

I just took a length of string and rolled a long piece of satin around it.
One day I want to learn to actually sew headbands myself.

Thanks!
The good thing about bookbinding is that, with a good tutorial, you can get very satisfying results on your first try. And it's lots of fun! So yes, you should try it! (:

Oh definitely!! Are there any good tutorials that you recommend?

Well, I learned mostly out of one book, but it's in german
The advantage of having a whole book dedicated to teaching you bookbinding is that it covers a lot more than a shorter tutorial can, like the importance of paper grain and what glues to use and so on.
Perhaps your library has some! (:

Thanks so much!

There are also a gazillion bookbinding tutorials on the net and on dA, too. They can be really helpful to start you out. (:
