Description So, I finally got my fave drawing I've ever done out of it's frame and got a picture of it.

Know what? It's still my favorite. 18x24, Coffee, ink, gesso, and hair. I did it while leaning over it on the floor, it was the central panel in a series of three. Originally, it wasn't going to be, but I did it quickly, and for fun to relax from the triptych, and I liked it 300 times better than any of the stuff I had planned.

This, is one of the few pieces that has worked for me, and continues to work for me, even though it is a few years old. If I could create work like this all the time, I'd be pround to call myself an artist.

Wow haven't seen this one for a wee bit. Although I politely disagree with your comment that you haven't done anything equal or better.

There is such power in this painting...the humanoid figures growing out of the ground just like the the sunflower...all dependent on the Earth for abstinences.
I love the monotone color scheme & the movement of this piece. How did you incorporate the coffee? I am an untrained painter, so am always interested in new techniques (or old). Gloria

The coffee actually makes up the bulk of the painting...all of the earth tone is actually the coffee itself. Thank you for your comments. (I think the word you are looking for is sustenance, not abstinence, btw) Coffee is really fun to work with, just get the instant kind and mix it with a little water...if you put too much water in it, just keep the lid off for a while and let it thicken up till it is paint/stain ready.

Just read my signature...Malapropism is the mixing of words. Add dyslexia to that & I end up sounding like a complete idiot. My son added a spell check for me to help correct the dyslexia but the Malapropism still manages to find it's way through.
Thank you for correcting my wording & for understanding; & 'Thank you' for the advice on how to use the coffee.

I actually had to look up Malapropism. Not something I am familiar with. I am also dyslexic, so I feel you on that one. Sometimes things missfire in my brain, and I'll look at yellow and say blue. lol.

Dyslexia is terrible in a funny way ...my kids have gotten to where they understand what I mean (rather then what I say);
...but I was never able to learn to drive & I get lost even in a strip mall (absolutely terrible sense of direction).

And probably, it seems, never to be topped. Or even matched really.
