Description Magnolia Plantation

Five Time Valentine - "Playboy"
Parum Albi - "Paris"

"...It has been a number of months since we first managed to get and adequate photo of Paris for her file, and since then, she has made considerable progress. We are able to tack her up now with minimal fuss; as soon as she learns the function of objects in her surroundings, she ceases to be afraid of them.

Like Daniel Hawthorne. She has learned him - his smooth, easy manner and lanky figure - and so her fear has all but vanished. She permits him now not only to efficiently tack her, but also to place a steadying hand on her bare neck - a practice that has taken months. Daniel's trust of Betts has allowed her to be able to ride Paris, after some initial eye-rolling and heavy breathing.

We have not dared trust the wily mare to be ridden in the open field, or to walk down the dirt road, but only to be ridden in one of the several dirt rings and paddocks. Her brown eyes often wander to the sweet spring grass when she hears Playboy trot by, however, and she seems envious of the trust her Daniel puts in him. More and more, on these days, she tries to put on her most serene face and behave, as if she is trying to earn a ride out of the sand and into the soft springy earth of the fields..."

--

So, flash forward a few months! Paris is finally amiable enough to tack and walk with some degree of difficulty around the ring.

Daniel (here riding Playboy) is her buddy in the barn, and undoubtedly you will see more of them together. Betts, another rider at the barn (not pictured) is responsible for the daily pain of taking the mare a few turns around the ring, and deals with her antics with tremendous patience.

Here Paris is wearing a flat-ring Eggbutt snaffle , one of the most benine bits, while Playboy uses a Baucher , which provides a little more steady contact for his wandering attention.

P.S. - I would die to have a Bates saddle like that one...I just sold my old darker version

This is gorgeous, I love how wistful Paris looks, is it just that she misses Daniel and wants to be outside or does she have a crush on the handsome Playboy as well?
