Well ...
A few years ago, my kids asked me to do a picture of a Dragon for them - I searched the internet for some good line work to use, came across this nice work and decided to use it.
The line work I used had no "Sasu" in it, matter of fact, it had no mention of any artist. I've not yet even finished it, as I have the bad habit of starting many art projects and of course, never finishing them.
I used this for a Water Color project, it actually looks pretty good, but like I said, never finished it. Granted, had I not came across this, I would have eventually posted it on my own DA and gave no credit as I wouldn't have had the information on *who* to credit, which sadly many times is the case. I try to at least let it be known that I am not the person who came up with the artwork, that I merely saw it and re-created it.
That's the crappy thing about the internet, half the time I can't credit an artist for using their line art because there are about 50 million people trying to say they are the *true* creator of such line art. Even with rules laid out, people will do what they want.
A good example: I found a dragon I absolutely loved, thought it'd make an awesome tattoo, I sought out the original artist (who go figure did have a DA account) and I noticed in the comments other's wanted to do what I wanted to do, make it a tattoo ... However the artist was very firm with saying he wanted to be compensated for it, I think about $50.00 is what he wanted for use of his work, in all truth that's not bad, but his art was already out there, and people were not about to pay him for his work, and were getting it tattoo'd anyways.
In my *honest* opinion, I think he shouldn't charge people, I think the best idea would have been to tell people who inquire about it, who the original artist is, and who the tattoo artist is ... Sometimes recognition is worth more, given once people know about the artist, they'll then ask for custom work to which THEN he can charge people ... Anyways, I digress.
If I ever get around to finishing the water coloring of it, I'll make sure to credit you - At this rate though, it'll probably be 2020 before I finish it lol (as I started it I think in 2012/13).
