Nice. Talk about contrast. We have this '61 Cadillac in the forefront, while in the background I spy a Nissan Titan and a Ford Explorer Sport Trac. It's kind of jarring to see how far we've come.

More like how many steps backward we've taken.Β Three gas guzzlers, but only one of them has class and style while the other two are merely appliances.

Well, what else is a truck other than a utility vehicle.
Oh yeah, there was the Lincoln Blackwood.

Yep. Those are some nice ones. I saw a Range Rover almost exactly like that 1994. The one I saw was a 1995.
Also, that Ranchero looks supremely great.
And sure, most newer trucks might not have that styling finesse that these have, but the newer trucks do have two advantages. Loads of power and loads of luxury. Have you seen the Ram Laramie Longhorn? The interior of that thing is fully-loaded.

This one can tow up to 18,000 lbs-

And this is quite literally the Cadillac of trucks-

Perhaps I'm the wrong man to be dappling in the usefulness of an SUV (you've seen mine), but I can still attest that 18,000 lbs is very impressive. That's the weight of two full-grown bull elephants, if I'm not mistaken. And almost as much as two Hummer H2s.

Yeah, the Lincoln Blackwood was an even bigger fail. In fact, they only made about 3,000 Blackwoods before just getting rid of it. The Blackwood was a truck in image only. It only came with rear wheel drive andΒ had a carpeted bed.

Yes, back when they were new there was one I saw around town.Β A former coworker had its successor, the Mark LT.

Saw one at the Philly Auto Show back in February.Β Haven't seen one in the wild yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Yep. I'll probably go to my local Ford dealer tomorrow to see if there's more where that came from.
