Description
After I finished scribbling the head, my first thought was "If master Splinter was a bird..."
Strange but maybe it's because of the "beard".

Karasu-Tengu, a japanese Yōkai. Often depicted as bird (crow) with anthropomorphic features. Sōjōbō, King of the Tengu, was said to be an old man with bushy white hair and a terrifying red face with a very long nose.
Being masters of the sword and warfare they sometimes taught worthy (and occassionally unworthy) humans.

They live in mountainous regions, hatch out of eggs and sometimes gather on (or in) big trees.
It is believed that arrogant humans become a Tengu in their next life in order to learn humility.
They are longlived but not immortal and like to play tricks on arrogant or greedy humans but also help the innocents.

I took some liberty with the design seeing as I didn't stick to a 100% with the old descriptions. (i.e. the clothes of a Yamabushi-mountain asket which they are very often depicted wearing)

_ In contrast to the Karasu Tengu, the Konoha Tengu is depicted with more human than bird-like attributes, featuring a red face with a long nose. (Konoha-Tengu, over time, developed out of the Karasu-Tengu? Can somebody tell me if that's right?)
