"You need to draw more to get better, to draw more you need to draw faster... so it's better to focus on quantity when you're young and polish the quality later on"
That's not really true all the time though, but Shirobako it's a very good anime that tackle that issue so maybe you'll be interested... (don't know if you've known it)
By the way that's still the character in your old avatar right? i need the reference for your commission so...

I may be old; but this old dog can still learn new tricks. I'm trying to make my sketches stand out which right now, I'm not really there yet...but I need to get make it stand out as hard as you make them stand out. Besides; I'm still pretty daunted by some tuts you've faved...lol. Is there anything I can learn from Shirobako though?? And mind if I ask about something art related??
Uhh...yeah, I mean the hair's pretty much the same...but here's my old avatar.

which is actually based on how I was drawn on this one anyway...

Yeah them tut... i try to follow them but the result never seems to be as good, so at the end of the day i learn to try to be satisfied with what i've made and move on. Feel bad everytime.
Anyway Shirobako's mostly about anime production, the drawing part's about the animator. It's good for motivation but yeah, still need to look elsewhere if you want to learn about actually drawing. Still recommend it though
Yes, feel free to ask me anything ^_^

...That hit me where I live...but imo that's a good feeling, since I believe its the main core on how and why artists get better.
Do you watch it while drawing or do you make time for both seperately?? Hopefully it isn't too long. Ofc, I think you can tell that I've never really had a lot of formal training to begin with.
Thank you; I'd like to ask about drawing hair for existing fictional characters. My own method of drawing them used to involve google image searching for very specific angles as reference and more often than not I tend to draw the hair as closely to the image as possible; any tips on how to get me to draw existing anime hair more freely?? And I'm not really sure about what you said days ago, but thanks for the tips...I'm getting a lot of work done from doing it the same way you do, and you made me love drawing eyes because I really dreaded that part the most.

having references is good. There's a tip: don't maximize your drawing software window, leave some space for a image viewer software so you can keep looking at the ref while drawing (instead of switching between windows)
other than that no really advice for drawing hair... My drawing involves a lot of random line and undo redo until i think it looks ok

That's....actually really useful, but I always see a lot of speedpaint videos and screenshots have the picture already set in SAI as reference. How much do you zoom in based on your canvas size of 2000 x 3000 pix?? Besides; don't you need to import or open reference images on SAI to syringe up the colors anyway??
Thank you for your time in any case...I hope things are getting better on your end.

Yeah there's that too. It's just that lately i switch between sai and clipstudio frequently so i prefer another image viewer... as for color i try to guess it with my eyes unless i need to create some sense of uniformity between works...
zoom in to 50-75%...? for a 9px brush

9 px brush?? Do you use your own sketch brush?? Because it really does its job at standing out its colors even on the thumbnail. I suspected you'd use a bigger brush since the lines you've made in your sketches tend to look very thick. Actually what tools do you use when you're sketching shadowless figures??

Like this one; where it looks like you drew all of it with just one type of brush (excluding the fart ofc)...

2 things:
1. Why no color? (not complaining, just curious)
2. I forgot what the second thing was.
