Description The Pachypetradermade is the only major herbivore Order within the Dinodontians. They comprise the Desarians, Echinoensiuraids (, Pachydisktherum, Deinogeotherum, and Velocanthocaudia.

Pictured above (top of picture) is a Desarian, the name comes from the Stolan language and loosely means "Stone Beast". Desarians were once a very wide spread family that was amazingly well adapted to the bitterly cold conditions of the Great Ice Age. But as the planet warmed up the cool climet they were designed for was becoming harder to find. At current the majority of species are found only in Artican continent in the far north. A few have adapted to the tropical environment of the sothern continents. Artica is the only place other than very high mountain ranges where it will snow.

Desarians have very broad feet tipped with thick spade-like stubby claws used to uncover the Varo-grasses and other plants that they feed on from the snow. Their ears and eyes are small to help prevent heat loss and their bodies are covered with dense wool that is mostly shed during the summer months. Desarians have also very prominent dermal armor, used to defend themselves from their primary predators, Guillotineodonts. As is evident the armor located over the shoulders has become greatly enlarged and forms massive "horns" or spines which are brought to bare when they defend themselves from attack, or for dominance battles by the males during the breeding season. These animals are very aggressive and will charge any perceived threat with the intent to either trample or gore the threat.

Echinoensiuraids (bottom picture) are a sister family to the Desarians and are very similar in body form and in habit. Like their Desarian cousins they are covered in fur and armor, but rather than have the massive shoulder spines for defense, they have fused tail spines located on the tip of the tail, much like the Ankylosaurus of Earth, whom they resemble a great deal. Like their Earth counterparts They use their tails like a spiked club to bash and impale any attackers. Echinoensiuraids are much better adapted to the tropical conditions of Varian III than the Desarians and have spread trough out most of the southern continents except Northern and Southern Enduria.

Interesting creatures. I particularly like that they are mostly furry rather than scaly, it really sets them apart from being confused as some form of Earth's ankylosaurs.

Thank you, yeah they evolved mostly during what is termed as the Great Ice Age on Varian III. So they are well adapted to the cold. They also have fleshy lips rather than a beak and cropping incisor teeth. They just have convergent evolution with the Ankylosaurs in regards to the armor and tail clubs. With the kind of predators they are up against, it's not surprising!

Well, anything to make the genus interesting.

I take it you're referring to to the Varagorgons.

Them to a small degree, More so the Guillotineodonts. They are the dominant large land predators on most of the planet. The Varogorgons are closer to bears in habit and feed quite often on vegetation as well as meat. The last fully carnivorous Varogorgon died out over 20 million years ago due competition from the Guillotineodonts. Varogorgons can't stand cold temps for long so when the Great Ice Age hit most of them were wiped out in the northern lands. Also competition with Mammalate carnivores at that time didn't help. in the end it was the Guillotineodonts and their relatives that one out over the Varogorgons and the Mammalates throughout most of the world.

Well thank you! Ever since I was 3 I've loved Dinosaurs and biology, zoology, ect. I think it shows... I try to think out all of my creatures so that if they were to suddenly pop into reality they would have a fighting chance to survive. I'm not sure that I accomplish that, but I try.
