Description
Today, while driving back from the airport after missing the Cairns arrival (planning on taking a couple of pictures of the aircraft landing), inbound on the Stuart Highway back into town, I noticed a swirling, boiling mass of dust on the right side of the road a couple of hundred meters away. Looking up, I then saw a column of dust swirling into the air. I realised that not only was it a dust devil (like a tornado, just not as violent or destructive) but it was probably the biggest I had ever seen, and the only time I was ever that close to one of that size. In my head I was screaming "PHOTO OPPOTUNITY", scrabbling for the glove box to get my camera while navigating a curved stretch of road at close to 80km an hour with a stupid tailgating dick behind me.

I snapped off three, the third being after it lost strength and dissapated.
