There're still a few around. I'm not holding my breath for any more, though, they usually quit around mid-March. This one was a surprise.

Wow! Certainly one of your best.
I agree with the comment above. An 8 second exposure? I probably would have done about 20 but then again, that would probably over-expose the image.

Depends -- I could have used a narrower aperture, which might have let me get a 20 second exposure, but I wasn't expecting such a huge spray of lightning.

Only 8 seconds exposure? I would have thought that you would need longer. Was there a lot of lightning around at the time?

There was still quite a bit of daylight when this was taken. I wish I'd used a slightly narrower aperture, but in my defense, this was the only interesting lightning of the evening, and it came out of nowhere.

I wasn't being critical at all. I haven't taken any photos of lightning and had assumed that longer exposures were required.
