The Vodyanoy is a large humanoid amphibian found in various rural Slavic regions. The Vodyanoy is frequently considered to be nothing more than a dumb beast, but the truth is the opposite. Vodyanoy are cunning beasts and even more cunning predators. But that is not what most people fear them for, no, most people fear vodyanoy for their occasional bouts of rage. An enraged Vodyanoy is known to drown people or animals, break dams and destroy water mills. Another frightening aspect of the Vodyanoy is that they occasionally take humans as slaves, dragging them beneath the waters to some hidden lair for an unknown purpose. To avoid this monstrous behavior, the locals will often leave sacrifices or tributes to the Vodyanoy to appease them, sparing the villagers for a time. Due to this outright malicious nature, TriZen has been attempting to contain, disperse or destroy any Vodyanoy they can discover. Interestingly, DNA tests on slain and captured Vodyanoy show they share a similar DNA structure to the Leviads; and a similar malicious nature.

The most notable encounter with a Vodyanoy took place in 1687, when the population of a small Russian village disappeared over night. The neighboring villages eventually discovered that a trio of Vodyanoy had grouped together and enslaved the villagers, forcing them to attack the surrounding countryside and bring them more slaves. Eventually a rebellion was formed, and the people managed to slay the Vodyanoy, but not without many casualties and devastation to the land's infrastructure.
