Thorn's ascension to power is controversial at best. She did not have the proper educational background to be considered a candidate, but somehow wound up at the shrine on Mt. Zenebas during the choosing of the next leader. Despite this, Volnir selected her to be the next aviel.

Many argue that someone so inexperienced should not lead Anemos, especially during such times of strife. Others contest that Volnir knows best, and to question its decisions is sacrilegious. Regardless, Thorn has much to prove if she wants to lead her country out of these trying times.

Nightfall (alias: Volnir) is a massive eagle-type zoid. It's colors resemble that of a sunset, and its ornate appearance is maintained constantly by attendants on the shrine atop Mt. Drasil. Volnir is at least as old as Anemos itself. Some argue it is from the time of the Ancients (although this claim has not been verified).

It is not built for heavy combat. It has no means of combating long-range attacks, and is cumbersome to pilot for close-range fighting. Little to no armor enhancements have been done on Volnir. Any modifications to Volnir's natural state are forbidden. Despite this, Volnir does have a cockpit from an unknown pilot. Aviels are discouraged from piloting Volnir unless in times of great need.
