I have the most wonderful, amazing, talented, brilliant, delightful writer girlfriend- Rienet-Halun (aka Bard)- who is also an utterly shameless enabler. She's got about a million stories featuring Rose (right) and Elizabeth (left) here. Her shameless enabling has rubbed off on me and like any good friend would I semi-forcibly convinced her to start a multitude of new AUs, including this one. Brighter Shores.
Elizabeth lost somebody in a shipwreck years before, thanks to a defunct lighthouse in the area- it'd been thought the area didn't get enough traffic to warrant one. Because of the catastrophic wreck, the lighthouse keeper position there is reopened. Elizabeth applies, and spends the next several years restoring the keeper's cottage and lighthouse. The shipwreck ended up aggressively sensationalized, and poor Elizabeth ends up harassed by reporters desperate for a new angle on the story.

Rose is a journalist who hopes to uncover the truth behind the story. She's spent years tracking down survivors and family members of victims, the company that had chartered the ship, the lighthouse commission. There's only one name left on her list that's been especially difficult to find... a woman who'd moved and changed her name since the wreck. What shenanigans shall ensue when they meet?
....hint, they will be gay

I'm actually sort of co-creater/co-writer on this project, and I just absolutely adore these girls and their stories. I absolutely went ham on this piece with the background and lighting and shading and such- all things I normally don't even do. Bard tried to swoop in and pay me to finish this after I sent her the sketch, but dammit I do what I want and I won't apologize. >:c It's far from perfect, but I worked really hard on it and I'm very proud :>
