This sketch was originally done on 10/2/22! I'm finally heading back into my backlog of unposted art and sharing some Detective stuff. For those that don't know, Mystic Detective is a ttrpg campaign my friends and I are playing, a murder mystery in a fantasy Victorian-England-adjacent setting.

Sapphique here is my PC! She spends months plagued by unsettling dreams of someone stalking a residence until they eventually culminating in a murder. After the murder, the dreams subside... for a week, before returning at a new location. These dreams are a problem not just because they're unsettling, but because visions are decided not under the Church's purview of "acceptable" magic, potentially putting her at risk of being cast out of the Church and potentially tried as a heretic- or so she fears. She begins doing frantic research on visions, late at night, hoping against hope she'll find some precedent for them within the Church, an Archon or Priest who was granted visions, but she finds nothing.
...however, her old mentor Desiree does find her. Frazzled, exhausted, toiling away in the Church archives. Desperate. Afraid. Desiree pulls the truth from Sapph... and helps her.
