Description
Trajan's Market, built near the Forum and Library of the same emperor. It is built against the Quirinal hill, which partly explains its preservation as it's not a fully freestanding building. It is believed that free wheat was distributed here to for free Rome's citizens (the annona or grain dole), according to (Vreeland )The inside contains numerous shops and warehhouses, as can be seen here:
