Description
Series: Princess TutuRight, so I know the "Grand pas de deux" in The Nutcracker Ballet is supposed to be danced by the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Chevalier, but... to heck with it, I'm saying Fakir the Nurcracker Pince and Ahiru can manage it just fine!

I have seen a few verisons of the nutcracker where the grand pas de deux is perfromed by the prince and clara, so this works perfectly.

AHHHH I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I know in the Bolshoi's Nutcracker Clara danced the Sugarplum pas de deux with the Nutcracker AS the Prince, so this is definitely possible.

Ahh! This is absolutely fantastic and really made my day. The Nutcracker is probably my favorite ballet, and I always wished that Clara got a pas de deux with the Prince.

Awwww, this is so sweet! The wonder on Ahiru's face is marvelously well done. I love the tenderness of Fakir's expression, he is so Obviously in Deep Smit. *happy squees*
By the way, you're not the first to give the grand pas de deux to Clara and the Nutcracker Prince. When the Pacific Northwest Ballet filmed Nutcracker: The Motion Picture back in the 80's (available for streaming on Netflix, yay) they made Dream-Clara the prima ballerina instead of the Sugarplum Fairy. It makes more sense for Clara to be the starring character in her own dream. They also expanded Herr Drosselmeyer's role, which is Fun and possibly a tad disturbing. It may not have been particularly well filmed, but it's still my favorite version. I heartily recommend it to everyone, if only for Maurice Sendack's costumes and set designs.

The guy who plays the Nutcracker prince in that film was my artistic director at the ballet company I danced for for many years XD He used to tell us stories about the making of that movie.

Oh let's see...he said the worst part of the whole thing was the mustache (it's fake XD). Since they were making a film, the way they shot it was quite irritating for the dancers (stopping/starting, retakes, the weird angles, etc). He also said that the flying at the end was quite uncomfortable and so cheesy it was painful, haha. That's all I remember offhand.

I've never heard of that version, and yes, it DOES make a heckuvalot of sense. And I'm always for more Drosselmeyer - a dose of creepy makes for fun watching.
