Well not as much as you say, but I don't really know... I think all in all it wasn't more than 6 hours. I'd say it was 4-5 but oh well who knows.

Your animations are so amazing! 
Perhaps the thing that has surprised me is the abrupt transition from the end of the animation and back to the rain. It's very sudden. But I find that I quite like it. Ever heard of creepypastas? It reminds me of them, for some reason. Disconcerting and kind of creepy, particularly when compared to the rainbow. Like the jar break somehow triggered the rain.
It's all very interesting, really, both in concept and technique. I love it.

Well it's 50/50 what I wanted to do. I wantes to convey the emotions the emmote is experiencing: from the sky getting bright as the rain ends and the rainbow appears to when the thunder strikes when the jar breaks. In a sense, the weather is a representation of the emote's mood so yeah
P.S. Yeah, I've heard of creppypastas and I enjoy reading them (pokemon ones though) if they're not really cliche, though 3/4 of the creepypastas have no sense and the plot is all the same only with different characters.
