LOL, thanks. Zelgadis is a really amusing character from an anime series called 'The Slayers'... he isn't around for the second half of the first series, but he's a main character through out the rest of the triple series run.
I really love his design and colors... His attitude also cracks me up to no end. I really should draw him and Raziel (different series) more. ._.

Ooooh, bah! Zelgadis has the trick of breaking his face down into shapes. Have you tried not so much as drawing a face for him, but drawing a head and placing stones in it?

I like this quite a bit. my only critique would be contrast. It seems in places that you are approaching the contrast you need, but you aren't pushing it far enough. This is a problem I have myself, so I'm not much on advice for fixing it, sorry :/

the way I've always understood it with contrast is, you should have your areas of pure white, and pure dark/black (some artists completely avoid using black and use as dark a color as they can get, what that is varies for each peice dependant on the colour pallete), leaving the rest of the image to be in between. one of your darkest areas will of course be that right eye (his right) underneath the hair, and one of the lightest areas will be his shoulder and top of his head I think, given the way his head is turned, and if your light source is indeed from above. The area of pure white is often very small and/or scattered. The shoulder would likely be small, though you could altogether avoid white and use a bright vibrant color. On the hair, it would be scattered and/or following the pattern of the hair.
I'm sure you probably already know a little of this, and like I said, I like the peice overall, it just feels like you could push your contrast further. good luck : )

Erm... Am I just dumb, or did I read a "Hamlet" spoof web comic with this guy playing Hamlet? Who is this guy? *pokes him with a stick*

thank you very much, personage. I did enjoy the fanfic (it was delightfully random) but I have never watched Slayers, so I didn't know who this person was.
