As she stepped back and looked at the big picture, she surveyed the landscape she had spent hours painting in meticulous detail. The masterpiece she had entrusted her life with, transferring all her heart and soul into beautiful strokes. It contained everything she ever could have imagined she wanted. Beauty, love, knowledge, a world in which everything was perfect. The painting was so beautiful that any person to have viewed it would be locked in a vision, unable to rip their eyes of the gorgeous strokes of perfection.
Then she sighed, releasing all the bottled up emotion and carefully severed the personal bond between art and artist--allowing the painting to become a separate creation. While she looked back and surveyed her work, she savored the picture that seemed to radiate and wished with all her soul that she could have painted herself into it. During a stolen moment, when time stood still, she reached out a hand as if possessed and ran it over the painting lovingly, then turned and walked out of the room. Turning her back on the perfect painting and entering a version not painted by herself, a version in which everything was wrong.
